Blooming Plastic Surgery

Brow Lift

From €2.250

Are you looking for a brow lift performed by an experienced plastic surgeon in the Netherlands? Blooming Plastische Chirurgie is known for its expertise and personal approach. Our experienced plastic surgeons, specialising in facial surgery, would be happy to discuss your wishes and expectations in a personal consultation at our clinic.

A brow lift is a surgical procedure in which drooping eyebrows are corrected by removing excess skin above the eyebrows. It goes beyond aesthetics; a lowered eyebrow position can lead to reduced vision and a permanently tired appearance. With a carefully performed brow lift, we restore the natural position of your eyebrows and give you back a fresh, youthful look. For an optimal result, a brow lift can also be combined with an eyelid correction. A brow lift can be performed using various methods. Depending on your concerns and wishes, we will determine which treatment method offers you the best result.

Everything you need to know about brow lift

Anaesthesia

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, a brow lift is typically performed under local anaesthesia. This means that only the area to be treated is numbed, so you will feel no pain during the procedure. Depending on the technique chosen and your individual situation, general anaesthesia may also be used. Our experienced plastic surgeons will discuss during the consultation which form of anaesthesia is most suitable for you.

Procedure duration

The duration of a brow lift varies depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. On average, a brow lift takes approximately 60 minutes. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will give you a more accurate estimate of the expected procedure duration.

Recovery time

Most patients can resume their daily activities after 4 to 7 days. In the first few days after the procedure, you may experience headaches, mild swelling and bruising around the eyebrows. This is normal and will gradually subside. Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you closely and offer tailored aftercare to ensure an optimal result.

Your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon

The first consultation focuses on your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon. In an open and confidential setting, you will discuss your wishes and expectations regarding the brow lift. The surgeon listens attentively to your story and takes the time to thoroughly analyse your eyebrows and facial structure.

Tailored information

The surgeon will inform you in detail about the various brow lift options, tailored to your individual situation and wishes. You will receive a realistic picture of the expected result, and the surgeon will explain how the procedure works. The entire treatment process will be discussed, including the preparation, the operation itself, the aftercare and the recovery process.

The aim of a brow lift

The aim of a brow lift is to bring the eyebrows to a natural, youthful position and to correct the tired appearance caused by drooping eyebrows. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss which technique is most suitable for your situation and whether a combination with an upper eyelid correction would yield an even better result.

Advantages, disadvantages, risks and complications

The consultation also covers the advantages and disadvantages of a brow lift, as well as the possible risks and complications. The surgeon will be open and honest about potential side effects and will advise you on how to minimise them.

Your questions come first

There is, of course, ample opportunity during the consultation to ask all your questions about the brow lift. The surgeon will answer these questions thoroughly and in plain language, so that you have a clear picture of what to expect.

A well-considered decision

We believe it is important that you are able to make a well-considered decision about the brow lift after the consultation. That is why we pay close attention to informing you about the possibilities, risks and expectations. Your wishes and satisfaction with the result are our priority.

Consultation fee

A consultation fee of €100 applies. This amount will be deducted from the final price of the treatment should you decide to have the brow lift performed at Blooming Plastische Chirurgie.

Anaesthesia and procedure duration

A brow lift is typically performed under local anaesthesia, so you will feel no pain during the procedure. The operation takes an average of 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. Prior to the operation, the plastic surgeon will give you an accurate estimate of the expected procedure duration.

Preparation and marking

Before the operation begins, the plastic surgeon carefully marks the area to be treated. This ensures a precise execution of the procedure and determines how much skin will be removed and where the incisions will be placed.

The procedure

A brow lift can be performed using various methods, depending on your concerns and wishes. In a direct brow lift, a strip of skin is removed just above the eyebrows, after which the eyebrows are elevated. In a lateral brow lift, small incisions are made just in front of or behind the hairline to lift the outer portion of the eyebrows. In the Fogli technique, a deeper layer of tissue is lifted through a small incision in the hairline for a more natural and longer-lasting result. The plastic surgeon will determine together with you during the consultation which technique is most appropriate.

After the operation

After the brow lift, you can return home on the same day. You are not permitted to drive yourself after the procedure. Our team will provide you with comprehensive aftercare instructions so that you are well prepared to go home.

Immediately after the operation

After the brow lift, you can return home on the same day. Make sure you have someone to assist with transport, as you are not permitted to drive yourself. Rest adequately during the first few days to allow your body time to recover.

Swelling and pain

After the procedure, you may experience headaches and mild swelling and discolouration around the eyebrows. This is a normal part of the healing process and will gradually subside in the days following the procedure. It is also possible that the eyebrows may initially appear somewhat high; this will settle back to the desired position within a few weeks.

Scars

The placement of the incisions depends on the technique used. In a direct brow lift, the scar is located just above the eyebrow and falls within the natural skin folds. In the lateral and Fogli techniques, the scars are located in or behind the hairline and are therefore barely visible. The complete healing process of the scars takes one to one and a half years. To promote this process, we advise you to use a good scar cream and to protect your scars from UV radiation as much as possible.

Smoking and alcohol

To promote wound healing and reduce the risk of complications, we advise you not to smoke for six weeks before and six weeks after the operation. We also recommend avoiding alcohol from one week before to one week after the procedure.

Tailored aftercare

Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you closely and offer tailored aftercare to ensure you can fully enjoy the results of your brow lift.

General risks

As with any surgical procedure, a brow lift carries risks and possible complications. Although these risks are small, it is important to be aware of them. General risks associated with a brow lift include post-operative bleeding, infections, swelling, delayed wound healing and allergic reactions to the anaesthetic agents.

Specific complications

In addition to the general risks, there are some specific complications that may occur in exceptional cases, such as temporary numbness of the treated skin, eyebrow asymmetry, fluid accumulation around the eyes and, in very rare cases, thickened scars. The plastic surgeon will discuss this with you in detail during the consultation.

Comprehensive information during the consultation

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss all risks and possible complications with you in detail. You will receive information on the likelihood of complications, how to prevent them and how they can be treated should they occur.

Your safety comes first

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, your safety is our priority. Our experienced plastic surgeons take all possible precautions to minimise risks and prevent complications. Should a complication nonetheless occur, you can count on professional and adequate care.

Transparency about costs

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, we understand that costs are an important factor in your decision to undergo a brow lift. That is why we strive for transparency and offer the treatment at a fair price, with quality and care always coming first.

Starting price and factors that influence the cost

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, the cost of a brow lift starts from €2,250. This amount serves as a guideline and covers the basic costs of the treatment, including consultations, anaesthesia and aftercare procedures.

The final price of your brow lift may vary depending on various factors, such as:

The technique used: A classic brow lift differs in complexity and price from the Fogli technique or a procedure under general anaesthesia.

Local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia: A brow lift under general anaesthesia carries higher costs than a procedure under local anaesthesia.

Combination with other procedures: If you combine the brow lift with an upper eyelid correction or another treatment, the total costs will be adjusted accordingly.

Personal quotation

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss your wishes and expectations and draw up a personal treatment plan. Based on this plan, you will receive a detailed price quotation so that you know exactly what to expect.

Frequently asked questions about brow lift

In a direct brow lift, a strip of skin is removed just above the eyebrows, after which the eyebrows are elevated. This scar falls within the natural skin folds above the eyebrow and is therefore barely visible. This technique is particularly suitable for men from middle age onwards. In a lateral brow lift, small incisions are made in front of or behind the hairline to lift specifically the outer portion of the eyebrows. The Fogli technique goes deeper; through a small incision in the hairline, a deeper layer of tissue is lifted for a more natural and longer-lasting result. The plastic surgeon will discuss during the consultation which technique best suits your situation and wishes.
Yes, a brow lift is regularly combined with an upper eyelid correction for an optimal result. Drooping eyebrows and heavy upper eyelids often go hand in hand and reinforce each other's effect on the appearance of the face. By combining both procedures, a fresher and more rested look is achieved than would be possible with either procedure alone. The plastic surgeon will discuss during the consultation whether a combination is sensible and desirable in your situation.
The visibility of the scars depends on the technique used. In a direct brow lift, the scar is located just above the eyebrow and falls within the natural skin folds. In the lateral and Fogli techniques, the scars are located in or behind the hairline and are therefore barely visible. In the first few months, the scars may still be slightly red, but this fades gradually. Care with scar cream and protection against UV radiation promote the most inconspicuous end result possible.
On average, the results of a brow lift are visible for 5 to 10 years, depending on the technique used and your skin type. The Fogli technique generally provides a longer-lasting result than a classic brow lift. The natural ageing process continues, however, which means that over time the skin may begin to show signs of ageing again. A healthy lifestyle and good skincare help to maintain the results for as long as possible.
We advise you not to engage in any sporting activity during the first week after the procedure. After this period, you can gradually resume light activities. More strenuous exercise and demanding movements are only permitted again after approximately three to four weeks. Your plastic surgeon will give you personal advice during the follow-up appointment about when you can safely resume.
