Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
From €5.750
Are you looking for a tummy tuck by an experienced plastic surgeon in the Netherlands? Blooming Plastische Chirurgie is renowned for its expertise and personal approach. Our experienced plastic surgeons, specialising in body contouring, would be delighted to discuss your wishes and expectations in a personal consultation at our clinic.
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a surgical procedure in which a lax abdominal wall, excess skin and fat are corrected. It goes beyond aesthetics; after pregnancy, weight loss or due to ageing, the abdominal wall can become so lax that exercise and a healthy lifestyle are no longer sufficient. With a carefully performed tummy tuck, we restore a tighter, more defined contour of the abdomen and the silhouette as a whole.

Everything you need to know about tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
Anaesthesia
At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, a tummy tuck is performed under general anaesthesia. This means that you will be fully asleep during the procedure and will feel no pain. Our experienced anaesthetists ensure a safe and comfortable anaesthetic, with your vital functions closely monitored.
Duration of the procedure
The duration of a tummy tuck varies depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. On average, a tummy tuck takes 120 to 180 minutes. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will give you a more precise estimate of the expected procedure duration.
Recovery time
After the tummy tuck, you will stay one night in the clinic for observation and aftercare. Most patients can resume their daily activities after 2 to 4 weeks. Heavy lifting and intensive exercise are not permitted until six weeks after the treatment. Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you closely and provide tailored aftercare to ensure an optimal result.
Your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon
The first consultation is centred on your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon. In an open and confidential atmosphere, you will discuss your wishes and expectations regarding the tummy tuck. The surgeon will listen carefully to your story and take the time to thoroughly analyse your abdominal wall, skin quality and physique.
Tailored information
The surgeon will provide you with comprehensive information about the various options for a tummy tuck, tailored to your individual situation and wishes. The surgeon will discuss whether a mini tummy tuck or a full tummy tuck is most suitable for you and whether liposuction may be a beneficial addition. You will receive a realistic picture of the expected result and the entire treatment process will be discussed, including the preparation, the surgery itself, the aftercare and the recovery process.
The goal of a tummy tuck
The goal of a tummy tuck is to remove excess skin and fat and, where necessary, to strengthen the abdominal muscles, so that the abdomen achieves a tighter and more defined contour. The plastic surgeon will discuss during the consultation whether your personal wishes match your current situation and what you can realistically expect from the result.
Advantages and disadvantages, risks and complications
During the consultation, the advantages and disadvantages of a tummy tuck will also be discussed, as well as the possible risks and complications. The surgeon will be open and honest about the possible side effects and advise you on how to minimise them.
Your questions are central
Of course, there is ample opportunity during the consultation to ask all your questions about the tummy tuck. The surgeon will answer these questions comprehensively and in plain language, so that you get a good picture of what to expect.
A well-considered decision
We believe it is important that after the consultation you are able to make a well-considered decision about the tummy tuck. That is why we devote considerable attention to informing you about the possibilities, risks and expectations. Your wishes and satisfaction with the result are our priority.
Consultation fee
A consultation fee of €100 applies. This amount will be deducted from the final price of the treatment, should you decide to have the tummy tuck performed at Blooming Plastische Chirurgie.
Anaesthesia and procedure duration
A tummy tuck is performed under general anaesthesia, so that you are fully asleep during the procedure and feel no pain. The operation takes an average of 120 to 180 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. Prior to the operation, the plastic surgeon will give you a precise estimate of the expected procedure duration.
Preparation and marking
Before the operation begins, the plastic surgeon carefully marks the area to be treated. This ensures precise execution of the procedure and determines where the incision will be placed and how much skin and fat will be removed.
The procedure
The plastic surgeon makes a horizontal incision just above the pubic area, concealed in the bikini line. Via this incision, the skin and fat are detached up to the rib cage. In a full tummy tuck, the navel is also repositioned to the correct position. Where the abdominal muscles have been stretched to the sides by pregnancy or weight loss, these are brought back together and sutured. The excess skin and fat are then removed and the wound is carefully closed.
Drains and overnight stay
At the end of the operation, two thin tubes (drains) are placed to drain wound fluid. These are removed once very little fluid is coming from the wound. After the tummy tuck, you will stay one night in our clinic, so that we can provide you with the best care and support during the first phase of your recovery.
After the operation
After the tummy tuck, you will need to wear compression garments for six weeks to support the abdominal wall during recovery. Our team will provide you with comprehensive aftercare instructions, so that you are well prepared when you go home.
Immediately after the operation
After the tummy tuck, you will stay one night in the clinic for observation. On the first day after the procedure, it is important that you rest and do not exert yourself. The following morning, you can go home with assistance. Please arrange for someone to accompany you for transport, as you are not permitted to drive yourself.
Swelling and pain
After the operation, the treated area may feel painful and tight. This is a normal part of the healing process and will gradually subside in the days following the procedure. After two weeks, you will come in for a check-up and the surgeon will remove all sutures. Heavy lifting and intensive exercise are not permitted until six weeks after the treatment.
Scars
The scar is located just above the pubic area and is largely concealed in the bikini line. During the first six weeks, the scars will still be red and swollen, after which this will gradually subside. The full healing process for the scars takes one to one and a half years. To promote this process, we advise you to use good scar cream and to minimise exposure of your scars to UV radiation.
Smoking and alcohol
To promote the wound healing process and reduce the risk of complications, we advise you not to smoke for six weeks before and six weeks after the operation. We also recommend that you refrain from drinking alcohol from one week before until one week after the procedure.
Tailored aftercare
Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you closely and provide tailored aftercare to ensure you can fully enjoy the result of your tummy tuck.
General risks
As with any surgical procedure, a tummy tuck carries risks and possible complications. Although these risks are small, it is important to be aware of them. General risks associated with a tummy tuck include post-operative bleeding, infections, swelling, delayed wound healing and allergic reactions.
Specific complications
In addition to the general risks, there are some specific complications that may occur in exceptional cases, such as a numb patch on the abdomen and fat accumulation near the hips, also known as 'dog ears'. Any numb patch usually disappears in time. The fat accumulation near the hips also resolves on its own in most cases; if this does not occur, it can be removed under local anaesthesia.
Comprehensive information during the consultation
During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss all risks and possible complications in detail with you. You will receive information about the likelihood of complications, how they can be prevented and how they can be treated should they occur.
Your safety is our priority
At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, your safety is our top priority. Our experienced plastic surgeons take every possible precaution to minimise risks and prevent complications. Should a complication unexpectedly occur, you can count on professional and appropriate care.
Transparency about costs
At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, we understand that cost is an important factor in your decision to undergo a tummy tuck. That is why we strive for transparency and offer the treatment at a fair price, with quality and care always our top priority.
Starting price and factors that influence the price
At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, the costs of a tummy tuck start from €5.750,-. This amount is a guideline and covers the basic costs of the treatment, including consultations, anaesthesia, overnight stay and aftercare procedures.
The final price of your tummy tuck may vary, depending on various factors, such as:
The type of correction: A minor tummy tuck without repositioning of the navel differs in complexity and price from a full tummy tuck or a Fleur de Lis correction.
Tightening of the abdominal muscles: If the rectus abdominis muscles are brought together and sutured, the costs will be adjusted accordingly.
Additional procedures: A mons pubis lift or a combination with liposuction incurs additional costs.
Personal quote
During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss your wishes and expectations and draw up a personal treatment plan. Based on this treatment plan, you will receive a detailed quote, so that you know exactly where you stand.
