Everything you need to know about tubular breast treatment

Anaesthesia

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, a tubular or tuberose breast treatment is performed under general anaesthesia. This means you will be completely asleep during the procedure and will feel no pain. Our experienced anaesthetists ensure a safe and comfortable anaesthesia, with your vital functions closely monitored.

Duration of surgery

The duration of a tubular or tuberose breast treatment varies depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. On average, the treatment takes 120 to 180 minutes. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will give you a more precise estimate of the expected operating time.

Recovery time

After the tubular or tuberose breast treatment, you will stay one night in the clinic for observation and aftercare. Most women can resume their daily activities after 2 to 3 weeks. It may take several months before the swelling has fully subsided and the final result is visible. Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you intensively and provide tailored aftercare to ensure an optimal result.

Your personal meeting with the plastic surgeon

During the first consultation, the focus is on your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon. In an open and confidential setting, you will discuss your wishes and expectations regarding the tubular or tuberose breast treatment. The surgeon listens carefully to your story and takes the time to thoroughly analyse your breasts and physique.

Tailored information

The surgeon will provide you with detailed information about the specific approach required for tubular or tuberose breasts, tailored to your individual situation and wishes. You will receive a realistic picture of the expected result, and the surgeon will explain how the procedure differs from a standard breast augmentation. The entire treatment pathway will be discussed, including the preparation, the operation itself, the aftercare, and the recovery process.

The aim of a tubular or tuberose breast treatment

The aim of the treatment is to correct the congenital abnormality and give the breasts a natural, balanced shape. Many women only discover during the consultation that they have tubular breasts. It is therefore of great importance that the plastic surgeon recognises the condition and performs the correction correctly. During the consultation, the surgeon will discuss which technique is most suitable for your situation.

Advantages, disadvantages, risks and complications

During the consultation, the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment will also be discussed, as well as the possible risks and complications. The surgeon will be open and honest about the possible side effects and will advise you on how to minimise them.

Your questions come first

Of course, there is ample opportunity during the consultation to ask all your questions about the tubular or tuberose breast treatment. The surgeon will answer these questions thoroughly and in plain language, so that you have a clear picture of what to expect.

A well-considered decision

We believe it is important that after the consultation you are able to make a well-considered decision about the treatment. We therefore pay a great deal of attention to informing you about the possibilities, risks and expectations. Your wishes and satisfaction with the result are our priority.

Consultation fee

A consultation fee of €100,- applies. This amount will be deducted from the final price of the treatment, should you decide to have the tubular or tuberose breast treatment performed at Blooming Plastische Chirurgie.

Anaesthesia and duration of surgery

A tubular or tuberose breast treatment is performed under general anaesthesia, so you will be completely asleep during the procedure and will feel no pain. The operation takes an average of 120 to 180 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. Prior to the operation, the plastic surgeon will give you a precise estimate of the expected operating time.

Preparation and marking

Before the operation begins, the plastic surgeon carefully marks the area to be treated. This ensures precise execution of the procedure and determines where the incisions will be made and which corrections will be performed.

The procedure

The correction of tubular or tuberose breasts requires a more extensive approach than a standard breast augmentation. In addition to placing an implant, the inframammary fold is also lowered and the glandular tissue is scored to create an even distribution of the glandular tissue. If necessary, the areola is also reduced and the nipple repositioned. This combined approach ensures a natural and balanced final result.

Drains and overnight stay

At the end of the operation, thin tubes (drains) may be placed to drain wound fluid. These are usually removed the following morning. After the treatment, you will stay one night in our clinic so that we can provide you with the best care and support during the first phase of your recovery.

After the operation

After the treatment, you will receive a supportive bra without underwiring, which you should wear day and night for the first six weeks. Our team will give you comprehensive aftercare instructions so that you are well prepared to go home.

Immediately after the operation

After the treatment, you will stay one night in the clinic for observation. The following morning the drains will be removed and you may go home with assistance. Please arrange for someone to accompany you, as you are not permitted to drive yourself.

Swelling and pain

Immediately after the operation, your breasts may feel painful and tense. This is a normal part of the healing process and will gradually subside in the days following the procedure. Listen to your body: all movements you can perform without pain will not hinder your recovery. Most women can resume their daily activities after 2 to 3 weeks.

Scarring

The scars are located in the inframammary fold and are therefore barely visible. In the first few months, the scars will still be red and swollen, after which they will gradually fade. The complete healing process of the scars takes one to one and a half years. To promote this process, we advise you to use a good scar cream and to minimise exposure of your scars to UV radiation.

Smoking and alcohol

To promote the wound healing process and reduce the risk of complications, we advise you not to smoke for six weeks before and six weeks after the operation. We also recommend that you refrain from drinking alcohol from one week before to one week after the procedure.

Tailored aftercare

Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you intensively and provide tailored aftercare to ensure that you can enjoy the optimal result of your tubular or tuberose breast treatment.

General risks

As with any surgical procedure, a tubular or tuberose breast treatment carries risks and possible complications. Although these risks are small, it is important to be aware of them. General risks include post-operative bleeding, infections, swelling, delayed wound healing and allergic reactions.

Specific complications

In addition to the general risks, there are also some specific complications that may occur in exceptional cases, such as displacement of the implant, capsular contracture around the implant, hypersensitive nipples and breast asymmetry. In very rare cases, an implant may rupture or become visible. The plastic surgeon will discuss this thoroughly with you during the consultation.

Comprehensive information during the consultation

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss all risks and possible complications with you in detail. You will receive information about the likelihood of complications, how they can be prevented, and how they can be treated should they occur.

Your safety comes first

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, your safety comes first. Our experienced plastic surgeons take all possible precautions to minimise risks and prevent complications. Should a complication unexpectedly occur, you can count on professional and adequate care.

The complexity of the correction: The degree of underdevelopment and the number of corrections required will influence the price.

Additional procedures: If a nipple correction or areola reduction is part of the treatment, the total costs will be adjusted accordingly.

Frequently asked questions about tubular breast treatment

With small breasts, there is normal breast development where the breasts simply have less volume. With tubular breasts, the development of the breast itself is disrupted, causing the shape to deviate. The inframammary fold is higher than normal, the glandular tissue is unevenly distributed and the areola is often enlarged. This necessitates a specific surgical approach that differs from a standard breast augmentation.
No, a standard breast augmentation is not suitable for tubular breasts. Simply placing an implant does not resolve the underlying shape abnormality and in most cases does not produce a natural result. With tubular breasts, a combined approach is necessary, which in addition to placing an implant may also involve lowering the inframammary fold and redistributing the glandular tissue. It is therefore essential that the plastic surgeon recognises the condition and performs the correction correctly.
This depends on the degree of correction and the technique used. During a tubular breast treatment, the glandular tissue is redistributed and the nipple may be repositioned, which in some cases may affect the ability to breastfeed. The plastic surgeon will discuss this with you in detail during the consultation, so that you can make a well-informed decision.
An improvement is already visible immediately after the procedure, but the definitive result is only fully visible after approximately one year. In the first months after the treatment, the swelling will gradually subside and the shape of the breasts will stabilise. During follow-up appointments, the plastic surgeon will assess the recovery process and inform you of what to expect at each stage.
