A consultation fee of €100 applies. This amount will be deducted from the final price of the treatment should you decide to have the nipple correction performed at Blooming Plastische Chirurgie.

Anaesthesia and duration of surgery

Nipple correction is performed under local anaesthesia, so that you feel no pain during the procedure. The surgery takes an average of 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. Prior to the surgery, the plastic surgeon will give you an accurate estimate of the expected duration.

Preparation and marking

Once the anaesthesia has taken effect, the plastic surgeon carefully marks where the incisions will be made. The exact placement of the incisions depends on the chosen treatment method, as discussed during the consultation.

The procedure

Via small, carefully placed incisions, the nipple or areola is corrected to the desired shape and size. For inverted nipples, the milk ducts are gently released so that the nipple can be brought forward. For areola reduction, a portion of the skin around the areola is removed. The incisions are closed with fine sutures for the most discreet result possible.

After surgery

After nipple correction, you may go home the same day, provided you have transport assistance. You are not permitted to drive yourself after the procedure. Our team will give you comprehensive aftercare instructions so that you are well prepared when you go home.

Immediately after surgery

After nipple correction, you may go home the same day. Please arrange transport assistance, as you are not permitted to drive yourself. Give your body sufficient rest during the first few days and keep the wound as dry as possible.

Swelling and pain

After the procedure, the treated area may feel slightly painful and sensitive. This is a normal part of the healing process. For pain, you may take paracetamol as advised by your doctor. From the day after the procedure, you may shower carefully, keeping the wound as dry as possible.

Scars

The scars are located around the nipple or areola and are therefore barely visible. In the first few months, the scars may still be somewhat red, but this will gradually fade. The full healing process of the scars takes one to one and a half years. To promote this process, we advise you to use a good scar cream and to protect your scars from UV radiation as much as possible.

Smoking and alcohol

To promote wound healing and reduce the risk of complications, we advise you not to smoke for six weeks before and six weeks after surgery. We also recommend that you refrain from alcohol from one week before until one week after the procedure.

General risks

As with any surgical procedure, nipple correction carries risks and possible complications. Although these risks are small, it is important to be aware of them. General risks of nipple correction include post-operative bleeding, infections, swelling, delayed wound healing, and allergic reactions to the anaesthetic or suture material.

Specific complications

In addition to the general risks, there are also some specific complications that may occur in exceptional cases, such as changes in sensation around the nipple, permanently visible scars, and in very rare cases damage to the surrounding tissue. In a nipple correction involving the release of milk ducts, the ability to breastfeed in the future may be compromised. Unilateral or bilateral: A correction to both nipples involves higher costs than a unilateral procedure.

The type of correction: An areola reduction is a more extensive procedure than a nipple correction and therefore differs in price.

Combination with other procedures: If you combine the nipple correction with another breast treatment, the total costs will be adjusted accordingly.
