From €4.950

Are you looking for a breast implant replacement by an experienced plastic surgeon in the Netherlands? Blooming Plastische Chirurgie is renowned for its expertise and personal approach. Our experienced plastic surgeons, specialised in breast surgery, are happy to discuss your wishes and expectations in a personal consultation at our clinic.

A breast implant replacement is a surgical procedure in which existing breast implants are replaced or removed. It involves more than a routine replacement; after approximately ten years, implants can cause complications such as capsular contracture or displacement. With a carefully performed implant replacement, we ensure a safe and natural result that aligns with your current wishes and physique.

Everything you need to know about breast implant replacement

Anaesthesia

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, a breast implant replacement is performed under general anaesthesia. This means you will be completely asleep during the procedure and will feel no pain. Our experienced anaesthetists ensure a safe and comfortable anaesthesia, with your vital functions closely monitored.

Duration of surgery

The duration of a breast implant replacement varies depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. On average, a breast implant replacement takes 60 to 90 minutes. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will give you a more precise estimate of the expected operating time.

Recovery time

Most women can resume their daily activities after approximately 14 days. In the first few days after the procedure, you may experience pain and a tense feeling around the breasts. This is normal and will gradually subside. Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you intensively and provide tailored aftercare to ensure an optimal result.

Your personal meeting with the plastic surgeon

During the first consultation, the focus is on your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon. In an open and confidential setting, you will discuss your wishes and expectations regarding the breast implant replacement. The surgeon listens carefully to your story and takes the time to thoroughly analyse your current situation and breasts.

Tailored information

The surgeon will provide you with detailed information about the various options for a breast implant replacement, tailored to your individual situation and wishes. You will receive a realistic picture of the expected result, and the surgeon will explain how the procedure works. The entire treatment pathway will be discussed, including the preparation, the operation itself, the aftercare, and the recovery process.

The aim of a breast implant replacement

The aim of a breast implant replacement is to safely replace or remove your current implants and, if desired, upgrade to newer implants that better align with your current wishes and physique. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will also discuss the possibility of fat grafting (lipofilling) as an alternative to implants, should you prefer a solution using your own body fat.

Advantages, disadvantages, risks and complications

During the consultation, the advantages and disadvantages of a breast implant replacement will also be discussed, as well as the possible risks and complications. The surgeon will be open and honest about the possible side effects and will advise you on how to minimise them.

Your questions come first

Of course, there is ample opportunity during the consultation to ask all your questions about the breast implant replacement. The surgeon will answer these questions thoroughly and in plain language, so that you have a clear picture of what to expect.

A well-considered decision

We believe it is important that after the consultation you are able to make a well-considered decision about the breast implant replacement. We therefore pay a great deal of attention to informing you about the possibilities, risks and expectations. Your wishes and satisfaction with the result are our priority.

Consultation fee

A consultation fee of €100,- applies. This amount will be deducted from the final price of the treatment, should you decide to have the breast implant replacement performed at Blooming Plastische Chirurgie.

Anaesthesia and duration of surgery

A breast implant replacement is performed under general anaesthesia, so you will be completely asleep during the procedure and will feel no pain. The operation takes an average of 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. Prior to the operation, the plastic surgeon will give you a precise estimate of the expected operating time.

Preparation and marking

Before the operation begins, the plastic surgeon carefully marks the area to be treated. This ensures precise execution of the procedure and determines through which incision the implants will be removed and replaced.

The procedure

Via the existing scar, the plastic surgeon removes the old implant. For implants that were inserted through the armpit, a different approach is used. If capsular contracture is present, the scar tissue around the implant is carefully removed. The new implant is then placed in the desired position. The incisions are carefully sutured and covered with dressings.

Drains and overnight stay

At the end of the operation, thin tubes (drains) are placed to drain wound fluid. These are usually removed the following morning. After the breast implant replacement, you will stay one night in our clinic so that we can provide you with the best care and support during the first phase of your recovery.

After the operation

After the breast implant replacement, you will receive a supportive bra without underwiring, which you should wear day and night for the first six weeks. Our team will give you comprehensive aftercare instructions so that you are well prepared to go home.

Immediately after the operation

After the breast implant replacement, you will stay one night in the clinic for observation. The following morning the drains will be removed and you may go home with assistance. Please arrange for someone to accompany you, as you are not permitted to drive yourself.

Swelling and pain

After the operation, your breasts may feel painful and tense. This is a normal part of the healing process and will gradually subside in the days following the procedure. For up to several months after the breast implant replacement, the nipples may feel extra sensitive or less sensitive than usual. This is normal and usually resolves on its own.

Scarring

The scars are located at the site of the existing incision and are therefore as inconspicuous as possible. In the first six weeks, the scars will still be red and swollen, after which they will gradually fade. The complete healing process of the scars takes one to one and a half years. To promote this process, we advise you to use a good scar cream and to minimise exposure of your scars to UV radiation.

Smoking and alcohol

To promote the wound healing process and reduce the risk of complications, we advise you not to smoke for six weeks before and six weeks after the operation. We also recommend that you refrain from drinking alcohol from one week before to one week after the procedure.

Tailored aftercare

Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you intensively and provide tailored aftercare to ensure that you can enjoy the optimal result of your breast implant replacement.

General risks

As with any surgical procedure, a breast implant replacement carries risks and possible complications. Although these risks are small, it is important to be aware of them. General risks of a breast implant replacement include post-operative bleeding, infections, swelling, delayed wound healing and allergic reactions.

Specific complications

In addition to the general risks, there are also some specific complications that may occur in exceptional cases, such as displacement of the breast implant, changes in sensation around the breasts, and capsular contracture around the new implant. With capsular contracture, scar tissue forms around the implant, which can feel hard and in some cases may require a further procedure.

Comprehensive information during the consultation

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss all risks and possible complications with you in detail. You will receive information about the likelihood of complications, how they can be prevented, and how they can be treated should they occur.

Your safety comes first

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, your safety comes first. Our experienced plastic surgeons take all possible precautions to minimise risks and prevent complications. Should a complication unexpectedly occur, you can count on professional and adequate care.

Transparency about costs

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, we understand that cost is an important factor in your decision to undergo a breast implant replacement. We therefore strive for transparency and offer the treatment at a fair price, with quality and care always at the forefront.

Starting price and factors that influence the cost

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, the cost of a breast implant replacement starts from €4,950,-. This amount is a guideline and covers the basic costs of the treatment, including consultations, anaesthesia, overnight stay and aftercare procedures.

The final price of your breast implant replacement may vary depending on various factors, such as:

Unilateral or bilateral: A bilateral breast implant replacement incurs higher costs than a unilateral procedure.

Capsulectomy: If capsular contracture is present and the scar tissue needs to be removed, the costs will be higher.

Combined with a lift or fat grafting: A breast implant replacement combined with a breast lift or fat grafting (lipofilling) incurs higher costs.

Personal quote

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss your wishes and expectations and draw up a personal treatment plan. Based on this treatment plan, you will receive a detailed quote, so that you know exactly what to expect.

Frequently asked questions about breast implant replacement

How long the result of the procedure remains visible differs for everyone. Your breasts have been corrected, but the natural ageing process in your body continues. As a result, your breasts may sag slightly over time. Pregnancy and fluctuations in weight also play a role in this.

In some cases, the breasts have so little glandular tissue that breastfeeding is not possible. If your breasts do have sufficient tissue, placing an implant has no adverse effect on milk production. If we need to redistribute the glandular tissue or reposition your areola during the correction, this may be detrimental to breastfeeding.

In general, the sensation in your breast remains the same. The area where the scar is located may feel slightly numb. The sensation in your nipple and areola may feel different during the first few weeks, but in most cases this is not permanent.
