Blooming Plastic Surgery

Neck Lift

From €6.500

Are you looking for a neck lift performed by an experienced plastic surgeon in the Netherlands? Blooming Plastische Chirurgie is known for its expertise and personal approach. Our experienced plastic surgeons, specialising in facial surgery, would be happy to discuss your wishes and expectations in a personal consultation at our clinic.

A neck lift is a surgical procedure in which sagging skin and underlying muscles of the neck are tightened and lifted. It goes beyond aesthetics; due to ageing or weight loss, the skin of the neck can become loose, leading to what is known as a turkey neck. With a carefully performed neck lift, we restore the natural contours of your neck and give you back a tighter, more youthful profile.

Everything you need to know about neck lift

Anaesthesia

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, a neck lift is performed under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia, depending on the technique chosen and the extent of the procedure. Our experienced anaesthetists ensure a safe and comfortable anaesthesia in either case, with your vital signs closely monitored throughout.

Procedure duration

The duration of a neck lift varies depending on the complexity of the procedure and your individual situation. On average, a neck lift takes 60 to 180 minutes. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will give you a more accurate estimate of the expected procedure duration.

Recovery time

Most patients can resume their daily activities after approximately 7 to 14 days. In the first few days after the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising and a tight feeling around the neck. This is normal and will gradually subside. Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you closely and offer tailored aftercare to ensure an optimal result.

Your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon

The first consultation focuses on your personal introduction to the plastic surgeon. In an open and confidential setting, you will discuss your wishes and expectations regarding the neck lift. The surgeon listens attentively and takes the time to thoroughly analyse your neck, skin and facial structure.

Tailored information

The surgeon will inform you in detail about the various neck lift options, tailored to your individual situation and wishes. You will receive a realistic picture of the expected result, and the surgeon will explain how the procedure works. The entire treatment process will be discussed, including the preparation, the operation itself, the aftercare and the recovery process.

The aim of a neck lift

The aim of a neck lift is to tighten and lift the sagging skin and underlying muscles of the neck, giving you a tighter and more youthful profile. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss which technique is most suitable for your situation, whether a combination with a facelift is desirable and what you can realistically expect from the result.

Advantages, disadvantages, risks and complications

The consultation also covers the advantages and disadvantages of a neck lift, as well as the possible risks and complications. The surgeon will be open and honest about potential side effects and will advise you on how to minimise them.

Your questions come first

There is ample opportunity during the consultation to ask all your questions about the neck lift. The surgeon will answer these thoroughly and in plain language.

A well-considered decision

We believe it is important that you can make a well-considered decision after the consultation. Your wishes and satisfaction with the result are our priority.

Consultation fee

A consultation fee of €100 applies. This amount will be deducted from the final price should you decide to have the neck lift performed at Blooming Plastische Chirurgie.

Anaesthesia and procedure duration

A neck lift is performed under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia, depending on the technique chosen. The operation takes an average of 60 to 180 minutes. Prior to the operation, the plastic surgeon will give you an accurate estimate of the expected procedure duration.

Preparation and marking

Before the operation begins, the plastic surgeon carefully marks the area to be treated. This determines where the incisions will be placed and how much skin and tissue will be corrected.

The procedure

During the neck lift, the skin is released from the underlying connective and muscle tissue via an incision in front of and above the ear, which in some cases continues behind the ear. The underlying muscles, ligaments and fat pads are lifted against gravity, after which the excess skin is removed and closed tension-free. It is essential that the skin is sutured without tension so that the scar is as inconspicuous as possible. If desired, a platysmaplasty can be performed, in which the neck muscles are brought together for an even tighter result.

Drains and overnight stay

At the end of the operation, thin tubes (drains) may be placed to drain wound fluid. These are typically removed within a few days. Depending on the technique, you may stay one night at our clinic for the best care during the first phase of your recovery.

After the operation

After the neck lift, a head bandage is applied that must remain in place for a few days. Our team will provide you with comprehensive aftercare instructions so you are well prepared to go home.

Immediately after the operation

After the neck lift, you will wear a head bandage that keeps the neck in the correct position and reduces swelling. Depending on the procedure, you may stay one night at the clinic under observation. Make sure you have someone to assist with transport home, as you are not permitted to drive yourself.

Swelling and pain

After the operation, your neck and face may be swollen and discoloured from bruising. This is a normal part of the healing process and will gradually subside. A tight feeling and mild sensory disturbances around the ears and neck are also normal and typically resolve on their own within a few months.

Scars

The scars are located in the skin folds in front of and behind the ear and are therefore barely visible. In the first few months, the scars may still be slightly red, but this fades gradually. The complete healing process takes one to one and a half years. We advise using a good scar cream and protecting your scars from UV radiation.

Smoking and alcohol

We advise you not to smoke for six weeks before and after the operation, and to avoid alcohol from one week before to one week after the procedure.

Tailored aftercare

Throughout the recovery process, we will guide you closely and offer tailored aftercare to ensure you can fully enjoy the results of your neck lift.

General risks

As with any surgical procedure, a neck lift carries risks and possible complications. Although these risks are small, it is important to be aware of them. General risks include post-operative bleeding, infections, swelling, delayed wound healing and allergic reactions to anaesthetic agents or suture material.

Specific complications

Specific complications that may occur in exceptional cases include nerve damage leading to temporary paralysis of part of the face, prolonged sensory disturbances around the ears, hair loss around the scars and, in very rare cases, skin necrosis. The latter occurs almost exclusively in smokers. The plastic surgeon will discuss these with you in detail during the consultation.

Comprehensive information during the consultation

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss all risks and possible complications in detail. You will receive information on the likelihood of complications, how to prevent them and how they can be treated should they occur.

Your safety comes first

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, your safety is our priority. Our experienced plastic surgeons take all possible precautions to minimise risks and prevent complications. Should a complication occur, you can count on professional and adequate care.

Transparency about costs

At Blooming Plastische Chirurgie, we understand that costs are an important factor in your decision. That is why we strive for transparency and offer the treatment at a fair price, with quality and care always coming first.

Starting price and factors that influence the cost

The cost of a neck lift at Blooming Plastische Chirurgie starts from €6,500. This amount serves as a guideline and covers the basic costs, including consultations, anaesthesia and aftercare.

The final price may vary depending on various factors, such as:

  • The technique chosen: An extensive deep neck lift or deep-plane neck facelift is more complex and therefore differs considerably in price from a limited neck lift under local anaesthesia.

  • Combination with a facelift or platysmaplasty: A neck lift combined with a facelift or platysmaplasty carries higher costs than a standalone procedure.

  • Additional treatments: A combination with liposuction, Facetite or Renuvion for skin tightening will be adjusted in the total costs accordingly.

Personal quotation

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss your wishes and draw up a personal treatment plan. Based on this plan, you will receive a detailed price quotation.

Happy patients

★★★★★

“Wat een fantastische arts – zéér kundig, zorgvuldig en bovendien erg vriendelijk. De behandeling viel me 100% mee: geen pijn, alleen wat lichte irritatie in de eerste week. Het resultaat is prachtig en natuurlijk. Ik zie er jaren jonger uit en voel me weer helemaal stralend.”

Frequently asked questions about neck lift

Any man or woman with a turkey neck may be eligible for a neck lift. To achieve a good result, it is important that the skin still has some elasticity. In addition, your general health must be good. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will assess whether a neck lift is the right option for you.

Conditions for a neck lift:

  • Skin elasticity: The skin must still be somewhat elastic to achieve an optimal result.
  • General health: Your overall health must be good in order to undergo the operation and recover well.

Consultation and assessment

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will carry out a thorough assessment of your skin and health. The surgeon may indicate that a neck lift could yield an unsatisfactory result for you. In some cases, a neck facelift may be necessary to meet your expectations.

A neck lift carries the same risks as any other operation. It is important to be well informed about these possible complications before making a decision.

General risks:

  • Post-operative bleeding: It can happen that the wounds bleed after the operation. This can usually be treated well, but it is important to report this quickly to your plastic surgeon.
  • Infections: Although infections are rare, they can sometimes occur. Good hygiene and careful aftercare help to minimise this risk.
  • Fluid accumulation: Sometimes small areas of fluid accumulation can develop on the face. These will resolve on their own.
  • Firm patches: Firm patches may develop on the face. These usually disappear on their own, but can also be treated by a skincare specialist or skin therapist.

What to expect:

Although complications are rare, it is important to remain alert for any symptoms and to discuss these promptly with your plastic surgeon. Good aftercare and following your surgeon's advice can help to minimise these risks.

The results of a neck lift are generally visible for a period of 5 to 15 years. The exact duration can vary depending on various factors such as the quality of your skin, your lifestyle and genetic factors. A neck lift offers long-lasting results, but the ageing process continues. Factors such as sun exposure, smoking and general health can influence how long the result remains optimal.

Regular skincare and a healthy lifestyle can help to maintain the result for longer. Although the results of a neck lift are long-lasting, it is important to have realistic expectations. Over time, ageing and gravity will continue to influence the skin, which may lead to a future need for additional treatments.
