Plastic surgery is becoming increasingly popular. Unfortunately, things sometimes go wrong. Very wrong! In the television programme 'Verminkt', an expert team of surgeons does everything possible to give people who have experienced a failed cosmetic or medical procedure a new lease on life.

Presented by: Evelyn Struik.

Prevention is better than cure

Unfortunately, things have gone wrong for the participants in the RTL programme 'Verminkt', but how can you prevent a procedure from turning out differently than expected? This is partly within your own control. It is extremely important to be properly informed by an experienced specialist before any cosmetic procedure. Unfortunately, many non-plastic surgeons perform operations for which they have not been trained. These are serious treatments for which plastic surgeons have undergone years of training. An experienced plastic surgeon is always registered in the BIG register and is affiliated with the Dutch Association for Plastic Surgery (NVPC).

A reliable clinic

In addition to choosing an experienced plastic surgeon, the entire process surrounding the procedure is of great importance. We have already discussed the importance of comprehensive information, but aftercare must certainly not be forgotten. Recovery after a cosmetic procedure should not be taken lightly. Of course, recovery varies from person to person, and recovery from an eyelid correction takes less time than that from a breast augmentation, but in both cases the same rule applies: you only get one chance to do it right. Take your time, rest well, and if you have any doubts, always return to your treating physician.

'Verminkt' is produced by Vorst Media.

Now available to watch on Videoland seasons 1 and 2.

Dr Wouter van der Pot, together with Gaby, draws up a personalised treatment plan to remove the xanthelasma condition around her eyes. He also improves her failed breast reconstruction and corrects her abdomen. Gaby herself makes every effort to achieve the best possible result — she stops smoking and loses weight.
