Many people would love to refresh their eye area without undergoing surgery. But is non-surgical eyelid correction actually possible? In this article, our specialists at Blooming explain what non-surgical options exist — such as plasma treatments and anti-wrinkle injections — what they can realistically achieve, and for whom surgical correction may ultimately be the more effective choice. We take an honest approach: some concerns respond well to non-surgical treatment, while others genuinely require surgery for a meaningful result. Read this article to find out which category your concerns fall into.
If you suffer from drooping eyelids or under-eye bags, an eyelid correction is an excellent solution. However, as with any operation, it carries (minor) risks. Would you rather avoid these risks? Then a non-surgical eyelid correction may well be the solution for you! This is also known as a brow lift with fillers.
Fillers
Fortunately, surgery is not the only solution to have your eyelids corrected. Do you dread the thought of a medical procedure? Then choose fillers to address the bags under your eyes. Using hyaluronic acid — a substance that also occurs naturally in your own body — we fill in the loose skin beneath your eyes. In no time, your under-eye bags will be barely noticeable.
Eyelid correction with surgery versus fillers
- Effect that lasts at least 10 years
- You need a week to recover
- Significant impact on your appearance
- Suitable for both under-eye bags and drooping upper eyelids
- Small scars that blend into the folds of your eyelids
Eyelid correction surgery
Are you hesitant about having an eyelid correction operation? There is of course a risk of complications, but bear in mind that it is a minimally invasive procedure. This means the operation is relatively small and straightforward. You can go home just half an hour after the treatment. You will be able to return to administrative work within a few days — though keep in mind that you will still have stitches in your eyelids at that point and will not yet be fully presentable.
Lifting your eyelids yourself without surgery
Taking good care of yourself is always a good idea. The tips below will not make a dramatic difference — they cannot truly be compared to an eyelid correction operation — but there are genuine ways to improve the quality of your skin. Your skin will gain a healthy glow and your eyelids will look somewhat tighter. Get enough sleep You are probably well aware that getting enough sleep is good for you. It also has a positive effect on drooping eyelids and under-eye bags. If you get too little sleep, your eyelids start to droop slightly and you develop dark circles under your eyes. This is because the body produces too little cortisol when sleep-deprived — a hormone that, among other things, influences the production of hyaluronic acid. This substance keeps your skin hydrated and fresh. Eat and drink healthily Vegetables, fruit, and water keep your skin supple and firm. They contain countless nutrients. A varied diet is therefore important, so that you take in a wide range of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin C, for example, contributes to the formation of connective tissue that supports and nourishes your skin and other organs. Antioxidants protect your skin from damage. Water is essential to keep your skin hydrated. This helps your eyelids stay tighter and slows the formation of wrinkles. Eye cream There are quite a few eye creams claiming to tighten the skin and reduce a tired appearance. It is important to keep in mind that a cream can never have the same effect as surgery. An eyelid correction is simply far more effective than a moisturising cream. That said, you can look more rested and refreshed with an eye cream. The cooling and hydration cause the tissue to swell slightly, making your skin appear to sit more tautly around the area. As a result, your drooping eyelids or under-eye bags may diminish a little. Is that enough for you? Then an eye cream is a perfectly good solution.Advice from a cosmetic doctor
