The Latest Techniques: Deep-Plane Neck Facelift

The deep-plane facelift is considered one of the most advanced and long-lasting techniques for facial rejuvenation. Unlike traditional facelifts that only address surface layers, the deep-plane technique works at a deeper structural level, repositioning the underlying tissues for natural and durable results. This article explores how the deep-plane and neck facelift work together, who is an ideal candidate, and what makes this approach the gold standard for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

Blooming Plastische chirurgie, Haarlem Laatste update: januari 2021 Over the past few years, our plastic surgeons have travelled to Miami on several occasions to master the latest techniques in the deep-plane neck facelift. Discover more about this new technique by reading the article below.

Deep-Plane Neck Facelift

Ageing is a beautiful thing, but it sometimes comes with challenges. Particularly in an era where people increasingly strive to look and feel healthier and fitter. Sometimes the image reflected in the mirror no longer matches how one feels on the inside.

Techniques

There are many techniques for making the face look younger, and one technique that has become increasingly accepted in recent years is the facelift. The 'deep-plane neck facelift' technique, widely used in America, is still rarely applied in the Netherlands. A deep-plane neck facelift treatment delivers a significantly better and longer-lasting result than any other facelift. With this technique, it is not the skin but the underlying tissues that are repositioned. This allows the 'foundation' of the skin to be placed under maximum tension, after which the skin can be sutured without tension. This ultimately produces a more natural result and better scars. Furthermore, the period of discomfort and swelling is shorter. Instead of three to four weeks, the recovery period with this technique is only one to a maximum of two weeks.

Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge of anatomy and experience are the most important aspects of this treatment. The plastic surgeon must have a thorough command of this technique in order to correctly dissect the tissue without damaging the nerves. A deep-plane neck facelift is an operation for advanced surgeons. Many surgeons begin with a MACS-lift, as this is a simpler technique. The disadvantage is that the effect is less long-lasting because the surgeon has little control over the extent to which the facial SMAS layer heals. With the right knowledge and experience, a deep-plane neck facelift is a very safe and predictable procedure. With this technique, the surgeon can much more precisely determine where the SMAS layer should adhere, meaning the result lasts significantly longer. At Blooming Plastic Surgery, the plastic surgeons performed a deep-plane neck facelift 150 times in 2018 alone.
