Dr. Paris Melis was appointed as the new president of NVEPC, the Dutch Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. His appointment was warmly welcomed by colleagues across the country, who recognised his leadership qualities, his deep commitment to patient safety, and his passion for raising standards within the profession. Dr. Melis was known for his thoughtful and forward-thinking approach to aesthetic plastic surgery. His tenure as president was marked by important advances in the field, and his legacy continues to inspire the Dutch plastic surgery community.
The field of work of a plastic surgeon is very broad. When we think of plastic surgery, we usually think of breast augmentations and facelifts — but plastic surgeons do much more.
For example, you would visit a plastic surgeon for a burn injury or for hand surgery. In the Netherlands, associations exist that plastic surgeons can join. Membership provides consumers with a certain level of assurance. Members of the NVEPC are plastic surgeons who focus primarily — if not exclusively — on cosmetic procedures.
Because plastic surgery encompasses many disciplines, the NVEPC represents surgeons specialised in aesthetic plastic surgery — surgical procedures performed to improve aesthetic imperfections.
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Paris Melis has been elected as President of the NVEPC. He will work towards greater acceptance of cosmetic surgery, better patient education, and high quality.
