A Modern Technique for Lifting the Face

Facial lifting techniques have advanced significantly, and modern approaches deliver far more natural results than the tight, pulled look sometimes associated with older methods. In this article, our plastic surgeons explain the latest innovations in facial lifting, including the deep-plane facelift, MACS lift, and minimally invasive options for patients who are not yet ready for full surgery. We discuss which technique is best suited to different degrees of facial ageing, what recovery looks like, and how long results can last. Discover how modern plastic surgery can help you look like the best version of yourself.

A complete facelift is far from always necessary. Nowadays there are excellent techniques for subtly lifting the face — for example a MACS-lift (= Minimal Access Cranial Suspension). The advantages of a MACS are minimal visible scarring, fewer risks, and a maximum effect. A sagging jawline, jowls, folds between the nose and the corners of the mouth, a loose neck: over time, the skin can start to lose its battle with gravity. This ages the face even more than wrinkles do. It is precisely for these problems that a fantastic technique exists: the MACS-lift. The neck, jawline, and cheeks can be lifted without the entire face needing to be operated on. This reduces risks. If the skin still has some elasticity, no scarring behind the ear is even necessary. The most important advantage over older techniques is that the MACS-lift can address both the face and the neck. With this method, not only the skin is corrected — as is the case with a mini-lift — but the underlying structure is also improved using a special suturing technique. This reinforces the supporting tissue on which the skin rests. A MACS-lift can be performed under local anaesthesia or under general anaesthesia. For an extensive MACS-lift in combination with eyelid surgery and/or liposuction of the neck/jawline, we recommend general anaesthesia. Expect to need three to four weeks before you are fully presentable again. After that, you can enjoy the rejuvenating effect for approximately eight to ten years. Because this lift primarily targets the underlying structures rather than pulling the skin to its maximum, it is important to keep the skin in good condition. Skincare creams that improve skin elasticity remain very important. Source: A modern technique for lifting the face – DA Magazine edition Read here the article from DA Magazine.
