Although the trend for super-large lips has somewhat passed, most people still desire a beautiful lip contour. When someone speaks, we look at their mouth. A mouth is therefore very important, and a mouth with thin lips is often considered less attractive.
Whether that is actually true, we leave open. If you would like slightly fuller lips,
fillers offer a straightforward solution. Lip augmentation can be achieved very effectively, and the result is immediately visible.
Until a few years ago, lips were treated with permanent fillers — fillers that remained in the lips indefinitely and were also encapsulated. These were usually silicone-based fillers. This produced very unsightly results, and there are women who must live permanently with deformed lips.
Fortunately, permanent fillers were banned in the Netherlands in 2015.
Silicone is no longer used for lip augmentation. We now use hyaluronic acid. This is a naturally occurring substance in the body and rarely causes unwanted reactions. The techniques have also been refined, and different types of fillers are available, varying in thickness. There is therefore a suitable filler for every indication. Did you know, for instance, that a fine hyaluronic acid can hydrate the lips without adding much volume? If you suffer from chapped lips in winter, that is a welcome solution!
The effect of a
lip filler treatment is visible for approximately six months to a year. If you are not happy with the result, the filler can if necessary be dissolved using hyaluronidase.
The filler is administered subtly using a cannula — a hollow needle. This minimises the risk of hitting a blood vessel. Lip augmentation can achieve an even better result if the vertical lines above the lip are also treated with filler — the so-called 'smoker's lines' or 'barcode'. In addition,
Botox can be used to lift the corners of the mouth upwards.
Beautiful lips are certainly within reach for everyone!
