Information About the NVPC (Dutch Society of Plastic Surgeons)

The NVPC, or Nederlandse Vereniging voor Plastische Chirurgie, is the professional association for plastic surgeons in the Netherlands. Membership requires rigorous training, adherence to strict quality standards, and a commitment to continuing education. All plastic surgeons at Blooming are registered with the NVPC, which guarantees you are in safe and qualified hands. In this article, we explain what the NVPC stands for, what its membership requirements are, and why choosing an NVPC-registered surgeon is the most important safeguard when considering plastic surgery.

Kliniek Blooming is registered with the NVPC, an abbreviation that appears regularly on our website. This blog explains what the NVPC is, what it does, and its history. NVPC stands for Nederlandse Vereniging voor Plastische Chirurgie (Dutch Society of Plastic Surgery) and has two main objectives:
  1. To promote the development of plastic surgery, including hand surgery, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery
  2. To represent the common interests of its members
The association's history begins in 1940 with general surgeon C.F. Koch, who fled to England during World War II and was deeply impressed by plastic surgery applied to wounded combat pilots. Upon his return, he opened several clinics in the Netherlands and founded the NVPC in 1950. It now counts more than 250 affiliated plastic surgeons. The association promotes its objectives through scientific meetings, improving surgical training, and cooperation with national and international organisations. Its ONE committee (Training, Continuing Education and Education) organises training days twice yearly and develops examinations for surgeons in training. Logo NVPC All active plastic surgeons at Kliniek Blooming are NVPC members and must adhere to strict quality standards. Drs. Wouter van der Pot is a member of the ONE. Dr. Paris Melis recently gave a lecture on the safety of injectables — botox, fillers, and lipofilling — to surgeons in training. The association's website is updated monthly with information relevant to both plastic surgeons and patients.
