How Can I Get Rid of My Wrinkles?

Wrinkles often make you look older and create a tired, dull expression. Read here what you can do to tackle your wrinkles in a beautiful, natural way.

When you look in the mirror, something just doesn't seem right. You look tired, seem older than you feel. The make-up you apply no longer sits as nicely on your skin and you have the feeling that your beautiful facial features are disappearing under wrinkles, crow's feet and fine lines. How can that be, when you sleep well, eat properly and take care of yourself? And perhaps more importantly, what can you do about it?

Struggling with Wrinkles

Wrinkles are extremely bothersome and unfortunately also difficult to get rid of. But how do they actually form? They usually develop as a result of the skin's natural ageing process. As we get older, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases — two substances that keep the skin firm and elastic, and therefore keep it looking young. Other factors can also influence the formation of wrinkles. Think, for example, of exposure to sunlight, smoking, and an unhealthy lifestyle.

Treating Wrinkles

There are several ways to reduce or remove wrinkles, depending on the severity and location of the wrinkles. At home, you can use creams or lotions, for example, to diminish the appearance of wrinkles. However, when wrinkles are deep or have formed as a result of facial expressions, this will be of little help because you continue to make the expression, giving the wrinkles the opportunity to deepen.

What Does Botox Do?

Botox is a treatment that uses botulinum toxin, a substance that paralyses muscles and thus reduces or even eliminates wrinkles. The effects of the treatment fade over time and the treatment must therefore be repeated to maintain the result. If you are considering botox for reducing or removing wrinkles, it is advisable to first consult a doctor to determine whether the treatment is suitable for you.

What Do Fillers Do?

Fillers are another treatment that can be used to reduce wrinkles. In this treatment, injectables in the form of hyaluronic acid or Radiesse are used to add volume to the skin. The muscle is therefore not paralysed, as it is with botox. The treating physician will always assess what is possible during the intake consultation and determine which treatment method is best suited for this.

Blooming

It is always a good idea to consult a doctor if you are considering medical treatment for your wrinkles. They can advise you and will discuss the treatment with you together. Sometimes the treatment can be carried out directly after the consultation. Beforehand, complications will always be discussed, and we will talk about your expectations and the doctor will assess whether these are realistic and achievable. This way, you will never end up with a result you did not expect or that falls short of your wishes. Contact us here!
