There is still much misunderstanding about the benefits and risks of botox. What does botox really do, and what does it absolutely not? Read it in this blog!
Despite becoming increasingly popular, there is still a great deal of misunderstanding about injectables. Many people have only a vague idea of what exactly the difference is between botox and fillers, and still too often think of unnatural, pulled-tight faces from which no emotion can be read. A shame, because injectables can do such wonderful things for your face. In this blog, we dispel the myths and give you the facts about botox.
Myth: Botox is Permanent
Unfortunately, injectables are not permanent. Because our body naturally processes and breaks down foreign substances, botox only lasts a few months — an average of 4–6 months. You will enjoy fillers for somewhat longer: approximately 9–12 months. It also takes a little while for the substance to take effect: approximately 48 hours. After about a week, you will see the final result. However, the more often you have botox re-injected, the more the muscles will relax. Because the muscles are immobilised time and again, the skin over the muscle has the opportunity to recover.
Fact: Botox Can Have Medical Benefits
In addition to the cosmetic benefits, botox can also be beneficial for specific complaints. Think, for example, of teeth grinding. Botox can also help with excessive sweating and headaches or migraines. By relaxing the muscles, the pain can be relieved and the complaints (partially) resolved.
Myth (and Fact): Botox Gives an Unnatural Result
This can of course absolutely be true. Botox can look very unnatural and alter the balance and shape of the face. However, this is absolutely not the norm and depends largely on the doctor and the patient's wishes. Botox can also eliminate fine lines and wrinkles in an extremely natural way, highlighting certain features of the face in a subtle, elegant manner. At Blooming, we consider it important to preserve the youthfulness and balance of the face and to maintain a youthful appearance.
Fact: More and More Men Are Getting Botox
Injectable treatments were for a long time seen as a 'women's thing', but a clear change is taking place. Areas that men often have treated include:
In men too, botox can help maintain a young, fit, and calm appearance.
Botox Makes You Look Older
It can happen that, when the injected botox wears off, you appear older. However, this is never caused by the botox: botox cannot cause wrinkles. What you see are the old wrinkles returning as the botox wears off. By regularly maintaining the treated area, wrinkles will stay away for longer.
