A brow lift is often thought of as purely cosmetic, but it can also have a significant functional benefit. Heavy, drooping brows can contribute to a permanently tired or angry expression, affect the visual field in severe cases, and cause tension headaches. At Blooming, our plastic surgeons perform brow lift surgery with precision and artistry, restoring a natural, open, and refreshed appearance. In this article, we explain the different brow lift techniques, who is a good candidate, and what results patients can realistically expect from this transformative procedure.
In our clinic, we regularly see patients with complaints of impaired vision, headaches, and a tired appearance. In many cases, these complaints arise from drooping eyebrows. Fortunately, there is a solution for all these complaints: the brow lift.
As we age, the skin relaxes just above the eyes, causing the eyebrows to sag. This makes it appear to the outside world as though you are sad or angry. If you naturally have a sombre expression, this is further accentuated by the drooping of the eyebrows.
Tension headaches
Because you tend to raise your eyebrows, pain develops in the forehead muscles (also known as tension headaches). To relieve these complaints, you may take paracetamol. After the brow lift, you will notice that the tension headaches have disappeared.
Restricted vision
Your vision can become considerably restricted as the eyebrows begin to droop, particularly in the corners of your eyes. This is very troublesome when reading, watching television, and whilst driving.
Result
A brow lift is therefore more than merely a procedure to give you a youthful and refreshed appearance. It will give you greater self-confidence and will also resolve your tension headaches. Our plastic surgeons have many years of experience in performing brow lifts. Discover more about the brow lift at Blooming in Haarlem.
